Nonprofit teams come together to learn to lead at Shine the Light Forum

November 23, 2015

GREENVILLE, SC – DNA Creative Communications (DNA), in partnership with Community Foundation of Greenville, United Way of Greenville County and Hollingsworth Funds, hosted “Leading with an Exceptional Team,” part of DNA’s annual Shine the Light Nonprofit Forums, on Nov. 17.

“Engaged employees are the engine that helps drive nonprofits forward in achieving their goals,” said Debbie Nelson, DNA president and founder of Shine the Light. “It is inspiring to see so many nonprofit leaders eager to cultivate and harness the talent and passion of their teams to propel their organization’s efforts. Nonprofits need to incorporate leadership practices that support a culture of trust and engagement, and also help develop their team members into team leaders.”

More than 90 executive directors and nonprofit leaders gathered at Shine the Light to learn, collaborate and plan with their team members. Keynote speaker Patrick Jinks, 20-year organizational leadership veteran and president of the Jinks Perspective Group, traveled to Greenville to share his expertise on developing nonprofit teams through strategic direction setting and coaching leaders. Attendees explored strategies for attracting, motivating and retaining talent within organizations, frameworks for effectively engaging employees, and other critical questions and perspectives nonprofits should consider to move forward in their leadership journey.
