North Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce Coordinates Food For 1,000 Law Enforcement in Atlantic Beach for Memorial Day Weekend

May 25, 2015

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC The North Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce Convention and Visitors Bureau applauds the work of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Assistance Program (a part of SLED) every day, but especially during big events like Memorial Day weekend. This year, the Chamber/CVB is partnering with local businesses to feed 1,000 police officers who travel from the surrounding area to assist with ensuring the safety of the North Myrtle Beach community during the Memorial Day weekend in Atlantic Beach. Eric Skidmore of SCLEAP coordinates this effort annually and works with state and local officials to assure everything runs smoothly.

This year, first responders are scheduled to receive meals on the evenings of Friday, Saturday and Sunday during Memorial Day weekend. The meals are coordinated as an act of service for law enforcement who travel from out of town, as well as those from the North Myrtle Beach area who dedicate their lives to the cause of protecting the public, and ensuring the safety of event participants and bystanders during Memorial Day weekend in Atlantic Beach.

“We are extremely grateful for the law enforcement officers who dedicate their lives to serving our community and for those who travel from out of town to ensure safety during popular events such as Memorial Day weekend,” said Marc Jordan, president and CEO of the North Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce, CVB. “Each year, our participating restaurants and volunteers are proud to show our thanks for their efforts by providing them with on site food and beverage as they continue to protect and serve our community.”

The majority of the food is donated by each of the participating groups, but there are costs involved which Eric Skidmore and his team must raise. If anyone is interested in supporting these efforts, please contact the North Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce for details at 843-281-2662 or by visiting www.northmyrtlebeachchamber.com.
