December 5, 2016

Jessica Gaitor, known to family and friends as “Jessa,” is a 24-year-old filmmaker and works at the Nickelodeon Theatre as a media educator and assistant theater manager. She was critically injured on Nov. 23, 2016, when she was involved in an accident and was struck by a vehicle while she was walking. Jessa is also a graduate of Benedict College, where she is employed part-time in the college’s media labs.

OPPORTUNITIES TO SUPPORT JESSA:

  • Thirsty Fellow Pizzeria and Pub (621 Gadsden St.) will host a percentage night on Tuesday, Dec. 13, from 5 – 8:30 p.m. A portion of proceeds from all sales that night at the restaurant will go to support Jessa.

“Jessa started at the Nickelodeon Theatre as an Indie Grits intern in 2014, and we quickly hired her in 2014,” said Andy Smith, CEO of Columbia Film Society, which operates the Nickelodeon Theatre. “She’s been an educator in our programs like Come Around My Way and TakeBreakMake, and she’s a talented filmmaker. We want to do all we can to support her and wish for her full recovery.”
