Palmetto Trust for Historic Preservation to Sell Historic Senn Blacksmith Shop and Grist Mill

September 25, 2013

SUMMERTON, SC – September 25, 2013 –  The Palmetto Trust for Historic Preservation announces that it will sell the historic Senn Blacksmith Shop and Grist Mill in Summerton, S.C.
The sale of the blacksmith shop and grist mill is made possible through a generous donation by the Senn Family, which originally owned and operated the properties from the turn of the century until the late 1990s.

“Historic places are more than just the bones of a building,” said Michael Bedenbaugh, executive director of Palmetto Trust. “We’d like to match these buildings with buyers who not only see the value of the real estate, but actually see the property as a business opportunity who will be able to reestablish a heritage industry of locally produced corn meal, grits and animal feed. We’re grateful to the Senn Family for entrusting the blacksmith shop and mill to the Palmetto Trust for Historic Preservation and allowing us the opportunity for this special place to once again contribute to the local economy.”
