Peter D. Beattie, special adviser for economic policy and development for Clemson University and former premier of the state of Queensland, Australia, will give a series of lectures in October and November on the success of the “Smart State” economic model built by the Queensland government during his tenure.  Dr. Beattie’s lectures focus on the ability of state government, along with collaborative partnering with the private sector and research universities, to shape economic recovery and development.
