Philanthropist returns to Greenville to explore collaboration with nonprofit leaders at Shine the Light

DNA Creative Communications (DNA), in partnership with the Community Foundation of Greenville, the United Way of Greenville County and the Hollingsworth Funds, announces the fourth and final part of its 2016 Shine the Light Nonprofit Forums series, “Transitioning from Coordination to Collaboration.” The event will take place on Nov. 15 from 8 a.m. to noon at The Warehouse Theatre, located at 37 Augusta Street in Greenville.
“Transitioning from Coordination to Collaboration” will focus on understanding community relationships and how to enhance them. Participants will be introduced to the Collaboration Continuum, a tool that will enable nonprofit leaders to assess their organization’s collaborative relationships within the community.
“Collaboration is essential in order to move a community forward,” shared Debbie Nelson, founder of Shine the Light. “Nonprofit organizations have the common interest of improving the lives of others, and understanding the true meaning of collaboration will help them reach their common goal together.”
Darrin Goss, President and CEO of the Coastal Community Foundation, will kick off the session with a presentation on the “Power of Collaboration.” Shine the Light is delighted to feature Mr. Goss who is well known in Greenville for his outstanding work as the former Vice President of Community Impact at the United Way of Greenville County. He left this position several years ago to assume the role of President and CEO of the Capital Area United Way in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He is now at the helm of the Coastal Community Foundation in Charleston.
The workshop will also include Innovation Labs facilitated by community leaders. These facilitators will encourage attendees to share their own insights and experiences. Innovation Lab Facilitators include Molly Talbot-Metz of the Mary Black Foundation, Zachary Brewster of MAU Workforce Solutions, Trey Ingram of Smith Moore Leatherwood, Kimbrelly Kegler of Michelin, Curt McPhail of Wofford College, Heather Meadors of JHM Hotels, Ed Roman of Southside High School, Lindsey Stemann of McMillion Consulting, nonprofit consultant Sharon Thomas, and Kimberly Witherspoon of Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd.

Shine the Light Nonprofit Forums is an annual series of educational workshops presented by DNA Creative Communications in partnership with the Community Foundation of Greenville, the United Way of Greenville County and the Hollingsworth Funds.
