GREENVILLE, SC – Piedmont Natural Gas and the Bob Jones University Museum & Gallery have joined together—to Support arts-integrated STEM Education! M&G received a $2,500 grant from the Piedmont Natural Gas Foundation for its Arts Encounter: The Power of Partnerships program, with specific focus on the program’s science, technology, engineering, and math outreaches.

The donation goes directly toward funding the Arts Encounter program, an outreach that served more than 12,600 K–12 students and educators with arts-integrated educational programming in the past academic year. Since beginning in 2008, the Museum & Gallery’s Arts Encounter program has added more than 1,000 new students on average every year, and now serves the entire Upstate and parts of western North Carolina.

Erin Jones, M&G’s director notes, “We believe STEM is vital to our kids’ futures—but we also believe the arts are one of the best ways to communicate these necessary skills. So, the Arts Encounter program’s work with STEM areas is really just a natural fit for M&G’s broader outreach to the community.”

“Supporting STEM-education programs like Arts Encounter is one of the ways Piedmont Natural Gas is giving back to the community,” said Mike Durham, community relations manager for Piedmont Natural Gas. “This program takes an innovative approach to preparing our students for future careers in STEM, and Piedmont is pleased to offer our support.”
