Pints for the People to hold fundraiser for Good Neighbor Cupboard

GREENVILLE, SC – June 28, 2014 – Again this year, local chefs and brewers will come together to help Pints for the People raise money for the Good Neighbor Cupboard, Anderson’s oldest food pantry.
Pints for the People’s 2nd Annual Cupboard Ain’t Bare Chef Cook Off and Brew Fest, sponsored by Techtronics Industries, West Small Business, Anderson County and Anderson Bine and Vine, will take place from 3 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 28 at the Anderson County Farmers’ Market, located at 402 North Murray Avenue, Anderson. Pints for the People will bring donations gathered by the group for the Good Neighbor Cupboard. Local chefs will compete, preparing dishes created from the donated items, while attendees enjoy sample drinks provided by home brewers and local craft breweries.
According to Mason Carey, president of Pints for the People, “This year we’ve added a drawing to give away a Stok Quattro gas grill, valued at $350, a gift from Pints for the People’s friends at Techtronics Industries (TTi) in Anderson. Anyone who makes a $5 donation to the event, or brings five canned goods to the event will be entered into a drawing for the grill which will be given away during the cook off. ”
Proceeds raised from the event will go to the Good Neighbor Cupboard, as well as all donated food not used in the Chef’s Cook Off. Items can be dropped off at all Anderson County library branches, the Anderson County Courthouse, Kimbrell’s in Elberton, GA, Anderson Bine and Vine, West Small Business and the Anderson County Farmers’ Market.
“We’re excited to be able to raise a little money and some canned goods for the Good Neighbor Cupboard,” said Carey. “Our goal is to create local events for local people that benefit local charities. This is our second year doing this and we’re just so happy that the community has responded so positively to what we’ve been able to do.”
Since the group’s first Zombie Pub Crawl in 2012, Pints for the People has raised more than $7,500 for local charities, not including the more than 1 ton of food donated to Good Neighbor Cupboard during last year’s chef cook off, and more than six bags of clothes to the First Baptist Church’s Coat drive. Events, such as the Zombie Pub Crawl, the St. Patrick’s Day Parade and the upcoming Centennial Cotton Ball, benefit local charities and are all put on and planned by volunteers.
