Public input sought for Lower Richland Tourism and Economic Development plan

November 9, 2016

Richland County Conservation Commission, Richland County Planning Department

Community input meeting

6 p.m.-8 p.m. Nov.  14

Hopkins Park Gym, 144 Hopkins Park Road, Hopkins

Richland County is seeking public input to help create a plan to promote tourism in the Lower Richland community using existing cultural and historical sites as well as two tracts of County-owned land near Hopkins for nature-based recreational activities.

The intent of the plan is to spotlight the rich history and agritourism of the area and generate ideas about how nature and heritage tourism can create new economic growth in Lower Richland. Residents are encouraged to give input and ask questions about the use of the two conservation tracts and other existing areas in Lower Richland. After a presentation, attendees can participate in three brainstorming sessions: nature and recreation, culture and heritage, and business development and capacity building.
