Residents invited to Decker Center dedication ceremony

March 14, 2017

Residents are invited to join in a celebration to dedicate Richland County’s newest public facility.

Located along the stretch of Decker Boulevard known as the “International Corridor,” the Richland County Decker Center is a 112,000-square-foot multi-use facility that houses Central Magistrate Court, a Sheriff’s Department substation and a community space for public use. The building also temporarily houses the Hopkins and Denstville magistrate courts until permanent locations for both are completed.

Every day, hundreds of residents use the building, which opened at 2500 Decker Blvd. in late 2016.

Central Magistrate Court was formerly located in an outdated, 12,000-square-foot facility on Huger Street.  Central Court now has more than 76,000 square feet of operating space at the Decker Center, including nine courtrooms, and updated technology systems to streamline processes and provide better customer service.

Sheriff’s Department units that relocated to a substation at the Decker Center include Court Liaison, Body Camera Management, Internal Affairs, Region 2, Fugitive Team, Warrant Division and Civil Process.

The Decker Center dedication ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, March 24. Residents are encouraged to attend to take a brief tour of the building and learn more about the services offered there.
