Richard Barrett, MCR receives the 2014 Colliers International Community Service Award

GREENVILLE, SC – Richard Barrett, MCR, was awarded the 2014 Colliers International Community Service Award. This award was established in 2011 to recognize Colliers’ staff for extraordinary commitment and involvement in community, industry and civic activities in the markets Colliers serves across South Carolina.
Barrett has dedicated his life to providing opportunities that help educate and develop people to make them more productive and successful citizens. To this end, Barrett created an endowment to sponsor students in regional and national sales-based competitions at the University of Georgia’s Terry School of Business Sales and Marketing Department. He also provided GED scholarships for Goodwill Industries by donating several scholarships in the past 13 months.
Barrett serves as a board member of the Children’s Museum of the Upstate and is an active member of the Greenville Breakfast Rotary Club. He also volunteers his time and resources to multiple organizations, including Upstate Forever, a land conservancy organization; FAVOR, an organization dedicated to helping families dealing with substance abuse issues; and Pendleton Place, a group that assists abused adolescent girls.
As part of the Community Services Award, Colliers International South Carolina donates $500 to the charity of the winner’s choice. Barrett has chosen the Children’s Museum of the Upstate, which provides children with experiences that stimulate curiosity, stir the imagination and develop a lifelong love of learning.
