Richland Library Sandhills set to close and relocate

December 16, 2016

As we head into the holiday season, Richland Library Sandhills is entering a period of transition. The location is scheduled to close 6 p.m., Saturday, December 17 as staff prepare to move to our new facility and to reopen in February 2017.

While Richland Library Sandhills is closed, limited holds pick-up is available at our current location (1 Summit Parkway) from 9 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., Monday-Friday. For our customers’ convenience, they also are able to select an alternate pick-up location for items that are put on hold by visiting richlandlibrary.com. Depending on where you live, other great options include our Northeast and Blythewood locations.

Staff anticipate reopening Richland Library Sandhills in our new 30,000 square-foot facility, located at 763 Fashion Drive, Saturday, February 4. Customers can look forward to an interactive children’s space, a drive-up window and a 250-seat auditorium. Thanks to a partnership with Richland School District Two, the shared building also boasts a large common area and cafe that library customers can access.

The nearly $10 million construction project was made possible by Richland County residents with the passage of a $59 million bond referendum back in 2013. We will continue to use that money to enhance our library facilities through 2017.
