COLUMBIA, SC – Summit Parkway Middle School’s (SPMS) Stacey Harris has been named the Richland Two Nurse of the Year.

Harris has been with Richland Two as a school nurse for five years and has been a nurse for 15 years.

“Stacy is an extraordinarily caring and compassionate nurse who is dedicated to school nursing. She treats each child individually and makes a positive impact on students each day,” said District Lead Nurse Dawn MacAdams. “Stacy is a real hero and a testament to learning to perform CPR.”

Recently, the American Red Cross honored Harris and GET FIT Lead Teacher Debbie Bernhagen for their heroic efforts in saving the life of a SPMS student.

Richland Two’s more than 27,000 students are served by 33 registered nurses. Each of the district’s schools has a fully equipped health room staffed by the registered nurse or a registered nurse and an aide. Each day they supervise students who require properly authorized medication as well as direct other health-oriented tasks.
