April 20, 2016

CHARLESTON, SC – The Southern District Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) held their 64th Annual Meeting on April 10-13th in Nashville, Tennessee during which they present the winners of their annual awards program. Rick Day, Stantec’s senior principal in the Charleston, South Carolina office, received the “Herman J. Hoose Distinguished Service” award.

“The Herman J. Hoose Distinguished Service Award” was created to recognize persons who untiringly and unselfishly contributed to the engineering profession and the ITE organization, and who by personal integrity, leadership and example inspired fellow professionals to greater service.

Rick Day has 38 years of experience in the A/E/C industry. He serves as lead for Stantec’s Transportation Group in South Carolina. Day is known for his commitment to continually improving the practice of transportation engineering. He is an active member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, American Council of Engineering Companies, and the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) – previously serving as the International Director of the Southern District ITE (SDITE). He is also active in his local community by volunteering his time on STEM initiatives throughout the greater Charleston region.

Paul Koch, vice president with Stantec, says, “It is no surprise to those who have worked alongside Rick over the past several years that he’s been honored with this award. His leadership, integrity, and presence in the South Carolina community have been a main driver of Stantec’s growth in Charleston and Columbia.  His reputation with clients across the south is unparalleled and we are proud to have Rick representing our team.”

Founded in 1930, the ITE is a community of transportation professionals, serving as a gateway to knowledge and advancement through meetings, seminars and publications. The SDITE is one of ten regional subdivisions of the ITE which includes transportation engineering professionals in the states of Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia.
