Ronald McDonald House Charities of Columbia, SC makes fundraising history with 2024 Black Tie Gala

March 13, 2024

On Friday, March 1, 2024 with the help of the event’s Presenting Sponsor, Capital Waste Services, LLC, Ronald McDonald House Charities Columbia, SC, experienced one of the most significant event successes in its history.

At 7 pm, the doors to 1208 Washington Place opened and welcomed over 300 guests from the cold rain and into a space that was full of the very best music (Tootie and the Jones), food (Scott Hall Catering), drinks (Twist Bartending SC), and auction items that Columbia, SC has to offer!

In keeping with A Midsummer Night’s Dream theme, the venue was beautifully decorated to reflect all things romantic, whimsical, and floral (Long Branch Wreaths), leaving no aesthetic detail spared.  The live auction portion of the evening was emceed by one of RMHC Columbia, SC’s most loyal supporters, Greg Adaline, an anchor with WIS TV.  The night’s Guest of Honor was the Ceruti family, an extraordinary family who has stayed at the Ronald McDonald House while their six-year-old daughter, Aubree, receives chemotherapy for leukemia.

The evening’s success was made possible thanks to the selfless and dedicated individuals who serve:  RMHC staff (Kate English, Liz Atkinson, and Alan James), committee members (Christy Davis, Angela Wyatt, Allie Parker, Kolby Redd, Rachel Anderson), donors, sponsors, and vendors.  The abundance of love and support that was present is something that will be remembered and cherished forever.  It is because of support like this that RMHC Columbia, SC, is able to further its mission of caring for families with critically ill and injured children receiving care at Columbia area hospitals.

Thank you to everyone who participated!

The Ronald McDonald House in Columbia, SC

The Ronald McDonald House in Columbia, SC, opened on May 18, 1983. In 1996, Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Columbia, SC was formed, merging Pediatric Family Services of the Midlands and Ronald McDonald Children’s Charities. Today, RMHC Columbia, SC, is an active, energetic organization with a volunteer board of directors and professional staff serving families and children through two cornerstone programs, the Ronald McDonald House and the Ronald McDonald Family Room. The first Family Room opened in Palmetto Health Richland Hospital in 2003. Then, in 2008, with the construction of the new Children’s Hospital, a new Family Room opened on the first floor of the hospital and serves families of children receiving care within the hospital. We are supported by a caring community of volunteers and generous contributors and sponsors.
