The Salvation Army’s Advisory Organizations School of Excellence held February 16-17 in Columbia, SC

Lt. Colonels W. Edward and Kathy H. Hobgood, leaders of The Salvation Army of the Carolinas hosted the second annual Advisory Organizations School of Excellence (AOSE). This year’s AOSE event brought together 220+ business leaders and Salvation Army staff in Columbia, SC.

The AOSE event started on Thursday night with a welcome reception and dinner program at the Embassy Suites on Greystone Boulevard. Lieutenant Governor Kevin Bryant addressed the room before dinner was served. The program also featured keynote speaker, William (Bill) Crouch. A longtime college president and an advancement leader in higher education and the non-profit world, Mr. Crouch is the CEO and Founder of Crouch and Associates.

During the evening, The Salvation Army honored special guests with awards. Recipients JT and Mary Gandolfo received the William Booth Award. Mac Bennett, President and CEO of United Way, received the “Others” Award. Both the William Booth Award and the “Others” Award are significant Salvation Army honors. The awards are presented to individuals that have demonstrated an extraordinary spirit of service benefiting The Salvation Army and the community. SCANA Corporation was also recognized for their generous financial contribution made to The Salvation Army in October 2016.

The AOSE event concluded on Friday, February 17 with group sessions focused on development, marketing, communications and building great relationships with the business community.
