Lowe’s Donates Money For Project Grow

BERKELEY COUNTY, SC – Sangaree Elementary School has received a $5,000 Lowe’s Toolbox for Education grant for Project GROW.  Project GROW (Gardening to Research Other Worlds) will provide students the opportunity to gain hands on experience in a garden to investigate insects, butterflies in particular.  The grant funding will be used to   create a walkway to surround the garden, purchase materials such as; wood to make raised flower beds, topsoil, flowers to attract butterflies, fencing, and classroom butterfly kits.

We are thrilled to announce that Lowe’s has awarded the Sangaree Elementary School funding for the Project Grow. Our grant application was based on the goal of our mission is to provide the students in second grade with a hands on academic experience learning about butterflies to support standards based learning. The butterfly garden will enrich the core curriculum providing a window into a new and exciting world. Not only will this enrich our curriculum but all the children in the school can visit the outdoor classroom to experience it’s beauty as well as learn about butterflies.
