Santee Cooper Names Richard Kizer Vice President of Government and Community Relations

MONCKS CORNER, SC – September 27, 2010 – The Santee Cooper Board of Directors today approved the promotion of Richard Kizer to vice president of government and community relations at its board meeting. The promotion is effective immediately.

“Richard has consistently demonstrated leadership and sound guidance on the many varied and complex government and community relations issues Santee Cooper faces. These issues continue to garner additional focus for Santee Cooper and Richard’s promotion reflects the growing importance of this area of our utility,” said Lonnie Carter, Santee Cooper president and CEO.

Kizer has been employed with Santee Cooper for the past 17 years. He had previously served as director of government and community relations and prior to that role, served as director of governmental relations and as a legislative assistant. Previous to Santee Cooper, Kizer served as a lobbyist with the South Carolina Teachers Association from 1993 to 2001.

He obtained a Bachelors degree in agricultural education from Clemson University in 1987 and earned a Masters in education from the University of South Carolina in 1989. Kizer is married and has two children, and resides in Moncks Corner, S.C.
