SC Technical College System Names New Associate Vice President for Student Services

August 20, 2014

COLUMBIA, SC – The SC Technical College System has named Dr. Eric Brown as Associate Vice President of Student Services.

Prior to this role, Brown served as Vice President for Student Affairs at Williamsburg Technical College in Kingstree, South Carolina.  At the college, he directed such functions as financial aid and veteran’s administration, student records, admissions, counseling, student activities, testing, career services, job placement, recruitment and the administration of federal grant programs.

In his new capacity, Brown will be responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of system-wide policies, procedures and educational activities relating to student support services for the SC Technical College System.  He will also serve as the System’s liaison with appropriate internal and external stakeholders in all areas of student services.

Brown holds a B.A. from Clemson University, a Masters in Human Resource Development from Webster University and Ph.D. in Philosophy from Walden University.

“I am delighted that Dr. Brown has agreed to step into the role formerly held by Dr. Russ Bumba.  As our system office strives to support our colleges and mitigate risk associated with financial aid, Eric’s extensive knowledge of federal programs, human resources and financial aid uniquely qualify him for this position,” said Dr. James C. “Jimmie” Williamson, president of the SC Technical College System.  “He is a consummate professional who brings with him practical and reasoned leadership.  We are happy to have him join our team at the system office.”
