SC Test Prep receives $12,500 grant for SAT preparation

November 2, 2015

SPARTANBURG, SC – SC Test Prep was recently awarded a grant in the amount of $12,500 from The Spartanburg County Foundation’s “Why Not” Fund. The grant will fund research, curriculum development, staff training, and data collection focused on the completely redesigned SAT being introduced March 2016.

The SAT’s new format will incorporate more radical changes than any other revision in the test’s history, including fundamental alterations to the material covered, the types of questions used, and the basic organization and scoring of the test. The “Why Not” Fund grant will maintain the significant impact of SC Test Prep’s services on students’ test scores throughout the transition to the new test, increasing their opportunities for college admission and financial aid.

SC Test Prep will host an SAT seminar on November 18th at USC-Upstate designed for Spartanburg County Schools’ administrators and guidance counselors, providing an overview and analysis of the redesigned test. Client services dedicated to the new SAT will begin in January 2016.

SC Test Prep is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to increasing educational and economic opportunity in Spartanburg County through affordable standardized test preparation and college counseling.

The “Why Not” Fund was established in 2013 by John T. Wardlaw as a permanent fund at the Spartanburg County Foundation. It is used for innovative projects to address issues related to poverty and under-education in Spartanburg County. Unsolicited proposals are not accepted.
