SCE&G ‘5 for $5’ LED light bulb offer back by popular demand

June 27, 2016

SCE&G is reintroducing a popular offer that gives electric customers an affordable way to purchase energy-efficient light bulbs. With a quick visit to the company’s online EnergyWise Savings Store, customers can now order five LED light bulbs for $5, with a flat rate shipping cost of $5. The offer includes up to 60 percent off retail prices and convenient home delivery.

“The 5 for $5 offer is one of the many efforts we’ve launched to give customers the tools to make a real difference in their energy use and cost,” said Therese Griffin, manager of SCE&G’s demand side management and energy efficient programs. “The average home has more than 40 sockets for light bulbs. Replacing old incandescent bulbs with energy-efficient LEDs is one of the easiest ways to make your home more energy efficient.”

ENERGY STAR-qualified LEDs use 75 percent less energy than incandescent bulbs and last at least six times longer. Energy-efficient bulbs also generate about 70 to 90 percent less heat, so they are safer to operate and can help cut energy costs associated with heating and cooling homes.

LED bulbs are available through SCE&G’s online EnergyWise Savings Store, which was launched in 2015. The bulbs are available in a variety of shapes and sizes, and are typically ready to ship within one or two business days. Orders can be made online at sceg.com/5for5 or by phone at 1-877-510-7234. There is a limit per SCE&G customer account of 15 bulbs, annually from date of purchase.
