Senior Action Receives Hollingsworth Funds Grant to Fund System Upgrades

GREENVILLE COUNTY, SC – January 13, 2014 – Senior Action, the non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening Greenville County’s maturing population and their families by providing access to resources needed for physical, emotional and social well-being, has received a $27,000 grant from the Hollingsworth Funds, Inc. to upgrade the organization’s client management software system, the non-profit’s Executive Director has announced.

Senior Action focuses on providing a comprehensive array of services to meet the social, physical, spiritual, mental, and emotional needs of Greenville’s mature population, said Andrea Smith, CEO and Executive Director of Senior Action.  As our senior population continues to grow, we are tremendously grateful to the Hollingsworth Funds for this grant that will enable us to improve our client management services, and to effectively and efficiently meet the needs of a rapidly growing client base.

Hollingsworth Funds is a charitable support organization focused exclusively on Greenville, South Carolina. Endowed by the estate of textile executive John D. Hollingsworth Jr., the foundation fosters success stories by funding efforts with the greatest potential for positive community impact. Greenville-based charities apply for funding each year through a competitive grants application process administered via the Community Foundation of Greenville.  Hollingsworth Funds recently distributed in excess of $6.1 million in 2013 grants to more than 70 nonprofit organizations within Greenville County.

Senior Action offers a variety of health and wellness programs, social and civic involvement initiatives, and a mix of dining, transportation, care management and home care services to more than 4,000 seniors over the age of 55 in 12 locations across Greenville County, and in partnership with numerous other service providers in the community.  In 2013, Senior Action has served over 65,000 hot meals, provided more than 370,000 hours of health, wellness and economic security programming, and driven clients in excess of 340,000 miles to doctor appointments, meals, grocery shopping, prescription pick-ups and events.  The organization also supported home care and care management services to over 125 seniors needing a helping hand, allowing them to remain independent.
