Singletary and Brogdon Named Santee Cooper Executive Vice Presidents
April 25, 2010MYRTLE BEACH, SC – April 25, 2010 – The Santee Cooper Board of Directors today authorized the promotion of Rennie M. Singletary and James E. Brogdon to executive vice presidents of the state-owned utility at its board meeting. Both promotions are effective immediately.
“Over the past several years, R.M. and Jim have contributed greatly to the Executive Management team and to Santee Cooper. They continue to provide tremendous value, direction and guidance as Santee Cooper successfully navigates through these changing legal, operational and regulatory environments,” said Lonnie Carter, Santee Cooper president and chief executive officer.
R.M. Singletary previously served as Senior Vice President of Corporate Services and is now the Executive Vice President of Corporate Services. Singletary leads Santee Cooper’s efforts in Economic Development, Environmental Management, Construction and Transportation Services, Property Management and Corporate Planning and Bulk Power.
A Santee Cooper employee for 28 years, Singletary has served in a variety of capacities, including manager of Jefferies Station and as a vice president of Fossil and Hydro Generation.
He is a double graduate of Clemson University with a BS degree in 1975 and a Master of Science degree in 1977 in mechanical engineering. He earned an MBA from The Citadel in 1997.
Jim Brogdon previously served as Senior Vice President and General Counsel, and is now Executive Vice President and General Counsel. Brogdon is responsible for the Corporate Secretary’s Office and leads the Government and Community Relations, Law Enforcement and Security, Audit and the areas of General Counsel.
Brogdon was elected Circuit Court Judge in 1996 and served nine years before coming to Santee Cooper in 2005. During this time he was also on the Circuit Court Judge Advisory Committee.
He served in private practice from 1977 to 1996. For six of those years he served as Marion County Attorney. He was a member of the Marion Chamber of Commerce, Marion County United Way and Marion Rotary Club, and served as president of all three of these organizations.
Brogdon is a member of the South Carolina Bar Association as well as the Berkeley and Florence Bar Associations. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of NESA, the Lowcountry Chapter of the American Red Cross and the Presbyterian Communities of South Carolina.
He is a graduate of Wofford College with a BA in economics in 1974 and is a 1977 graduate of the University of South Carolina Law School.
Singletary and Brogdon have each served on Santee Cooper’s Executive Management team for five years.
