GREENVILLE, SC  The Labor and Employment team at Smith Moore Leatherwood LLP is hosting a series of training seminars to teach human resources professionals how to conduct effective employee investigations in today’s complex legal landscape.  The first seminar in South Carolina will be held on Thursday, February 5 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at the Greenville office located at 2 West Washington Street, Suite 1100.

Attorneys Peter Rutledge and Corinne Jones will present engaging, interactive exercises in which participants tackle real-life workplace controversies.  Participants will review witness statements, assess strategies for conducting investigations based on a variety of facts, and develop plans for an effective investigation aimed at resolving conflict and avoiding litigation.  Activities will also include conducting mock interviews of the accused, accuser and a key witness, with feedback on the substance of the interviews and how it was conducted.

While applying the skills they know, participants will learn new techniques and ideas along the way, becoming more effective at one of the most fundamental, yet challenging, HR duties—getting to the bottom of complaints and deciding what to do about them.

The seminar in Greenville has been approved for 4 credit hours (general) by the HR Certification Institute. The cost of the seminar is $200, which includes breakfast. Attendees can take advantage of a 15 percent discount by registering on or before Monday, January 26, using the promo code “EARLYBIRD”.

The firm will also host the seminar at other offices: February 19 in Charleston and February 26 in Charlotte. Registration, directions and additional information can be found by www.smithmoorelaw.com/events or by contacting Michelle LaFata at [email protected] or 336.378.5309.
