Souper Bowl of Caring Celebrates 9th Annual National Day of Service

January 20, 2016

Mayor Steve Benjamin along with speakers from Harvest Hope Food Bank and Souper Bowl of Caring staff will kick off the 9th annual Service Blitz at Spring Valley High School on February 6 at 8:30am. The breakfast rally is sponsored by Bojangles and will kickoff a day of service for over 100 volunteers in the surrounding community.

Participating Souper Bowl groups across the city will gather at Spring Valley High School the Saturday before the Big Game in an effort to turn Super Bowl weekend into the biggest celebration of giving and serving in the nation. The groups will be provided breakfast and inspiration before heading out into the community to volunteer their time at local charities like Harvest Hope and Transition’s Homeless Recovery Center.

It is not to late to take part. Charities interested in hosting volunteers can still register at the souperbowl.org/columbia website, those interested in volunteering can contact charities directly, too. Can’t find a a place to volunteer? Keep it in your neighborhood by going door to door and asking for can foods.
