South Carolina Alliance for Mobile Infrastructure recognizes transit system

February 29, 2016

Greenlink and Greenville Transit Authority (GTA) were recognized by the South Carolina Alliance for Mobile Infrastructure at its annual conference in Isle of Palms last week. The Alliance, whose members include SCDOT, regional transportation authorities, municipal transit systems and agencies serving the elderly and individuals with disabilities and special needs, promotes and advocates for transit friendly legislation, monitors transportation-related news and legislation, offers transit planning and operations training and maintains an extensive peer network.

Each year, the Alliance honors individuals and teams from transportation organizations across South Carolina for their achievements and contributions to the state’s mobile infrastructure. This year, the Alliance presented the 2015 Excellence in Innovation Award, which recognizes the most creative use of technology, resources and planning to bring innovation to the mobile infrastructure industry, to Adam Grutsch with Code for Greenville for its collaboration with Greenlink to develop the Greenville Trolley Tracker mobile app. The Alliance also recognized Pat Dilger, former GTA board chair, as the 2015 Board Member of the Year for her advocacy, awareness raising and leadership on behalf of GTA and Greenlink.

According to Transit Director Mark Rickards, 2015 was an especially exciting year for Greenlink, marked not only by a variety of important service enhancements, but also by its participation in a series of valuable community efforts. “For us, the innovation award is both an acknowledgement and a celebration of the kind of collaborative approach that our community has taken to transit planning and development,” said Rickards. “The Alliance’s recognition of Pat is also meaningful, as her leadership and initiative were instrumental in helping Greenlink create a vision for the future through both the TIGER grant application and the Piedmont Health Foundation transportation study.”
