South Carolina-based country band, Greg Payne and The Piedmont Boys, releases new album

October 10, 2016

Greg Payne and The Piedmont Boys, South Carolina-based country band, is proud to announce the release of their new album “Natural Born Rebel” on October 10, 2016.

“Natural Born Rebel” is singer-songwriter, guitarist and front man, Greg Payne’s fifth album release and features his original against-the-grain country music inspired by the thousands of miles and tireless hours of touring honky-tonks and performance halls across the U.S. The eight-song album is released on the heels of the band’s return from the west coast, where they held their first of two cd-release performances at the Wild Hare Saloon in Oregon City, Oregon. The second will held at the upstate music venue, Gottrocks, on October 22, 2016.

With almost five years between this release and the last of new music, Payne described the band’s excitement as palpable and a much needed catharsis for all five band members including Matt Parks, fiddle, Chief Spires, bass, Colt Strickland, drums and Stuart McConnell, lead guitar. The album throws the listener back to a time when country music was soaked in whiskey and set on fire with howling fiddles, haunting bass lines and hammering guitar rhythms.

“You’ll find the album is peppered with highs and lows as it’s a true reflection of the hard-hitting tours our band has completed over the last couple of years. We have some fun up-tempo tracks that will get a crowd shaking like “Goodbye”and “Long Way to the Bottom” and others that are more reflective like “Alone Again”, which has become more of an anthem-like shout-along at our shows.”

The album was recorded in-house at Master This Studio with Spires as the engineer and producer. All songs are written by the group with the exception of “Come on out Tonight” written by Corey Hunt and “Two Reasons” writer unknown. Additional musicians on the album include Brandon “Bullfrog” Tuner, Mike Bagwell, Benton Blount, Craig Sorrells and Joel Mcconnell.

Greg Payne and The Piedmont Boys will light up downtown Greenville on the main stage at Fall for Greenville with their new music this Saturday, October 15 at 6 P.M. “Natural Born Rebel” is available for digital download on iTune and GooglePlay and can be purchased at upcoming live performances.
