SPARC to Host Mobile App Hackathon – The APPocalypse

Company offers cash prizes, giveaways and 10 hours of good times
CHARLESTON, SC – AUGUST 27, 2011 – SPARC, LLC, a Charleston, S.C. based software development and systems integration company, will host its first annual developer Hackathon – The APPocalypse, on Saturday, August 27, 2011 at their headquarters on 2387 Clements Ferry Road in Charleston, SC. The 10-hour computer programming event invites students and professionals throughout the Southeast to show SPARC and their peers what they’re made of. SPARC will supply participants with round-the-clock food, caffeine and adult beverages, plus $5,000.00 in total prizes, mobile tablets, giveaways and more. The event will also feature activities for spectators, including: xBox competitions, hacker movie screenings, nerf gun battles and more.

Participants of the Hackathon – APPocalypse will work in teams of 1-3 people to develop randomly selected ideas for mobile applications for the Android, iOS, Blackberry or Windows Phone 7. A panel of judges will choose the overall winning application and spectators will choose an audience favorite. The code base for all applications will be considered for further development at SPARC. Contestants must be 21 years of age or older to participate, 18-20 will be considered with verification of experience.
Check-in will be from 10am-12pm, development from 12pm-10pm followed by judging and awards from 10pm-12am. For more information, or to register (as a team or spectator), visit hackathon.sparcedge.com.
