Spartanburg Denny’s Restaurants Announce “Give And Get” Campaign For United Way Of The Piedmont
April 27, 2011SPARTANBURG, SC – May 2 – 6, 2011 – Today, Spartanburg-area Denny’s restaurants hosted a kick-off breakfast to announce an exciting Give and Get campaign to support United Way of the Piedmont. Beginning May 2nd through May 6th, diners at Spartanburg-area Denny’s will get 10 percent off their total bill. Denny’s will also give an additional 10 percent to United Way of the Piedmont. The promotion is expected to generate thousands for the Upstate charity.
Denny’s has a long history with the United Way, said Bill Ruby, Denny’s vice president of field marketing and media. For years, we have proudly supported their efforts, which send 90-cents of every dollar right back to programs and people in this community. We are excited to participate in this fundraising program, while also giving back to an organization that helps hundreds of thousands right here in our community.
In order to partake in Give and Get diners will need a readily available promotional coupon which can be found in all Hometown News publications this week and next. In addition, Denny’s sent the coupon out to its Upstate Denny’s Rewards subscribers; and diners can sign up for the distribution at www.dennys.com. United Way included the promotional coupon in its recent e-newsletter, which was distributed to subscribers and will also be available for download on United Way of the Piedmont’s website, www.uwpiedmont.org through May 6th.
The four participating restaurants are conveniently located throughout the Tri County area:
- 2306 Reidville Road – Spartanburg
- 115 Sloan Garden Street – Boiling Springs
- 1515 E. Main Street – Duncan
- 1009 N. Mountain Street – Blacksburg
Following the Give and Get campaign, the participating Denny’s restaurants will offer $1 United Way Bluehands for sale through the end of May. According to the United Way of the Piedmont, Bluehand is the mark that is left when people are moved to help others, whether by donating money, volunteering time, or advocating for a cause. Purchasing a Bluehand during Denny’s campaign is an opportunity to make a mark on the local community.
We are excited Denny’s has named the United Way the beneficiary of this generous promotion, said Monica Cothran, campaign director for the United Way of the Piedmont. I hope the community will use this as an opportunity to come out for a delicious, affordable meal at Denny’s with friends or family, while also giving back to a very worthy cause.
The money donated to the United Way of the Piedmont will help support local programs and people in need. Last year, the United Way of the Piedmont:
- Filled more than 35,700 prescriptions for uninsured neighbors in the Spartanburg community.
- Assisted kids in after school programs where 48 percent had letter-grade improvement in at least one academic subject.
- Provided more than $700,000 in emergency assistance to 18,225 individuals in danger of losing their home or utility service.
- Educated 27,269 young people on the dangers of alcohol and drug abuse, adolescent pregnancy, teen violence and tobacco.
