Spring Preview – Make A Statement With Bold Neckwear

Now that the last winter holiday has past we can start focusing on spring!  If you are a fan of The Farmer’s Almanac there may be one more bout of winter weather next week, but that shouldn’t stop you from working one of spring’s hottest trends into your late winter wardrobe and that is statement neckwear.

While now is not the time to break out all of our spring and summer wears, it is the perfect time to start transitioning your wardrobe by introducing spring to your winter outfits and accessories are a great place to start.  Statement neckwear is going to be a huge trend for spring and summer and was seen in almost every collection and in every esthetic.  Here are some ideas and inspiration pieces for one of the hottest spring and summer trends:

1.    Crystals.  If you want to dress up a minimalist or casual top there is no easier way than with a crystal necklace.   It doesn’t matter which style you choose clear, heavily embellished and adorned crystals will keep your look on point.  This season, your best costume jewelry shouldn’t be reserved for the evenings.   Break it out and add a lot of sparkle to your daywear.

2.    Color.  Spring is always a season of color, and this year is no exception.  Typically we see a lot of tints and shades in spring, but this year it is all about primary colors.  Again, the shapes and styles will vary but basic, pure tones are the key.

We will see a lot of floral patterns, even in menswear, as the season moves forward, but this is if that is not your esthetic multiple and multi-colored accessories are a great way to play on that motif and bring color to your outfit.

Speaking of the guys bowties and scarves are still hot for spring.  Paisley and plaid are on point, but bold regatta stripes are trending too and work well in any form.  If you’re daring try swapping out the oblong scarf for a square one wrapped and worn under your shirt like a neckerchief.

3.    Metal.  Whether you choose gold, silver, platinum or titanium you can’t go wrong with metal in any shape or size.  From links to pendants and sculpture large solid metal pieces coordinate with any other accessory and add drama to your look.

4.    Texture and Natural Elements.  Knitted scarves and ties are always popular in the spring and summer, but this season we will also see texture in the form of natural materials.  Leather, bone, stone, beads and gemstones in all stages of refinement will add a rugged earthiness to your outfit and keep it grounded.

While we still have a few weeks of winter to make it through, spring is on the way and now is the time to start planning and transitioning your wardrobe.  Accessories are the safest and easiest place to start this change and make the perfect seasonal bridge.  The trend in statement pieces is also ideal because they work just as well with wool outfits as they do with linen ones.
