Starlight Pops all about music, food, art
April 3, 2012CHARLESTON, SC – Tickets are on sale now for Starlight Pops, First Federal’s annual spring celebration of music and food, on April 28 at The Grove at Patriots Point.
Starlight Pops has been a spring staple on lowcountry calendars for more than 25 years. This year’s event will feature a Broadway Pops performance from the Charleston Symphony Orchestra (CSO), under the direction of Alex Agrest. Agrest is a veteran core musician with the CSO, and the music director of the Summerville Community Orchestra.
The performance includes selections from Mamma Mia, Chicago, Guys & Dolls, Annie and West Side Story, and lowcountry vocalist Nancy Clayton Lefter will join the CSO for several songs.Arrive early to enjoy Patriots Point at a special discount rate. Starlight Pops ticket holders can get a free Patriots Point admission ticket of equal or lesser value with purchase of a full priced ticket. The special Starlight Pops discount is good on April 28 only.

Gates will open at The Grove at 5:30 p.m. to allow ample time for picnicking, a stroll through the Charleston Artist Guild Art Village, and dinner from one of the participating food vendors. The following food vendors will provide yummy options for those who prefer not to picnic, or wish to supplement. Visit Jack’s Cosmic Dogs, Taco Boy, Pot Kettle Black, That’s How We Roll, Mike’s Peanuts, Kool Katz and King of Pops. Beer and wine will be available for purchase from MIX Premiere Bartending.
Gates will open at 5:30 p.m. and the CSO performance begins at sundown. But first, plan to participate in the annual picnic judging contest beginning at 7 p.m. Prizes will be awarded for Best First Time Picnic (for Starlight Pops newcomers), Best Lowcountry Recipes and Picnic You’d Most Like to Be Invited To.
Tickets are on sale now in First Federal locations and online at www.firstfederal.com. Prices are reduced this year: $10 for First Federal customers (must purchase in a First Federal financial center), $15 adults, $5 for ages 13-21 and free for children younger than 12.
