Beatles Laser Light Show Debuts Tonight during Second Shift Twosday

In conjunction with the upcoming blockbuster exhibit BUGS! Giant Robotic Creatures, the South Carolina State Museum will debut Laser Beatles tonight at 7 p.m. during Second Shift Twosday. Sit back and take a magical mystery tour with John, Paul, George and Ringo in a full dome planetarium laser light show featuring a compilation of legendary Beatles songs choreographed to brilliant laser lights.  Laser Beatles is a 48 minute show and will be play every Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. through the end of February.  Visit scmuseum.org to purchase advanced tickets. Please note: Laser shows contain bright, flashing lights that may cause discomfort to those with light sensitivity or other pre-existing conditions.

Come early and see Two Small Pieces of Glass playing at 6 p.m. in the planetarium. This 25 minute show tells the story of the telescope, how it was invented and how it works from Galileo’s modifications, to a child’s spyglass, to the launch of NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope.  At the end of the show, there will be a live 10-minute sky tour. The entire museum is always open during Second Shift Twosdays, including the new 4D theater, observatory and historic telescope gallery. BUGS! Giant Robotic Creatures Opens this Saturday, Jan. 24

Explore some of the world’s most common insects like never before as they are shown 40 to 120 times their size in BUGS! Giant Robotic Creatures opening this Saturday, Jan. 24 at the South Carolina State Museum.  Using animatronics and interactive technology, this blockbuster exhibit enlarges and brings to life the hidden world of insects. The exhibit features giant robotic creatures, an insect portrait gallery, a live bug zoo, interactive dragonfly, honeybee and mosquito heads, a hands-on puppet theater and giant ladybug and black widow spider photo opportunities.
