Summerville Community Beats Previous Sales Mark for Both December & January

February 7, 2013

SUMMERVILLE, SC – February 7, 2013 – Sales at The Ponds, a 1,950-acre master-planned community in Summerville, have broken records for the neighborhood in both December 2012 and January 2013. Data for Summerville from the Charleston Trident Association of Realtors show a nearly 21% increase in closed sales for December of all single-family detached homes in the area.

Led by Carolina One New Homes, the sales team at The Ponds wrote 9 contracts in December, 12 contracts in January and has 4 contracts to date in February. Throughout 2012, the number of new contracts at The Ponds averaged about 5 each month. Of the recent contracts, 18 are homes to be built, with the remaining sales from builders’ existing inventory.

The contracts span a variety of builders for The Ponds, including Sabal Homes, DR Horton, Mungo Homes (Harbor Homes Division) and HH Hunt. Home prices for the sales averaged $303,500.

We are excited to see this upward trend in folks building new homes at The Ponds, says Will Jenkinson, broker in charge of Carolina One New Homes. I think the fact that the majority are choosing to build homes shows an increase in consumer confidence, and we’re glad they placed their confidence in the wonderful community that is The Ponds.

It’s satisfying to see The Ponds really hitting its stride as a community, says John W. Morgan, The Ponds community manager for Greenwood Communities and Resorts. Homeowners of all ages are out making the most of everything The Ponds has to offer — the YMCA, the trails and ponds, the Pavilion and especially the new Ponds TreeHouse play structure designed and built by Lowcountry artist Wayne Edwards.
