Sylvan Learning Center brings on new Director of Education

After years of transforming young lives as a teacher, Sharon D. Smith will continue her impact as Director of Education at Sylvan Learning of Northeast Columbia.
Before receiving her teaching certification from the University of South Carolina, Smith earned her bachelor of science degree in technical management from Devry University in 2009. Throughout the process of achieving her teaching certificate in 2012, Smith served as a behavior specialist for the South Carolina youth Advocate Program, tutoring youths one-on-one in homes, schools and within the community. Smith is currently in the process of receiving a Master of Art Language and Literacy degree from the University of South Carolina.
From 2013 to 2019, Smith was employed with Horrell Hill Elementary School as a second grade early childhood teacher, team leader, ELA facilitator and USC coaching teacher. In her first, third and fifth years of teaching, Smith was nominated for Teacher of the Year.
