Equipped with the knowledge that retiring baby boomers, changing approaches to funding and philanthropy, and a more crowded than ever nonprofit sector is creating a need for strategic thinking and bigger and bolder visions; Venture Carolina is partnering with 1000 Feathers and VentureSouth to help bridge the divide between nonprofits and entrepreneurship. During the event, nonprofit executives, development directors and board members will engage in dynamic conversation with industry leaders who will help our social service community think less like a charity and more like a business in an effort to expand resources and better meet the needs of the communities they serve.

Innovation Challenge. A select group of nonprofits will have the opportunity to present their profitable ideas to a panel of investors and funders, modeled after the popular show Shark Tank®. The application process will remain open until Aug. 16; investors and representatives from VentureSouth, one of the nation’s largest early stage investment firms, will narrow the pool down to three candidates using their thorough due diligence process. The finalists will then present their ideas during the conference on Wednesday, Sep. 13. The winning proposal will receive $5,000 to fund the development and expansion of their effort.
