October 16-19 on stage in the Wood Auditorium –  Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County

The Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County (FAC) will present a truly delightful production of one of Shakespeare’s best comedies, A Midsummer Night’s Dream October 16-19 on stage in the Wood Auditorium. The play is directed by Jami Steele, Director of Education and Theatre at the FAC. Evening shows will begin at 7:00 p.m. with a 3:00 p.m. Sunday matinee. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students, seniors and military. A Midsummer Night’s Dream is sponsored by Modern Turf.

About the play
“The course of true love never did run smooth,” says Lysander and indeed, things get even more complex when you add in mischievous fairies, an arranged marriage and a group of wannabe actors.
Our updated production takes place in coastal Georgia and centers around the upcoming nuptials of Athens Music Group’s owner and CEO, Big Daddy “Duke” Theseus and Hippolyta, rock goddess extraordinaire. Putting a damper on things is Egeus, a manager determined to marry country music’s sweetheart and her daughter Hermia to pop idol Demetrius whom she does not love. A healthy dollop of jealousy and fairies, with a side order of eager to please mechanicals make for lots of fun in this production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
The Cast
More than 35 teens from the community are participating in the production. The cast includes: Sean Alderson, Diego Alvarez, Lilimarie Alvarez, Grace Arledge, Lutful Asef, Joe Baird, Noah Barker, Sarah Barks, Stephano Betti, Mary Boucher, Mell Boucher, Adam Cascall, Elizabeth Dozier, Eliza Edwards, Riley Ellis, Anna Ferris, Ivan Ryan, Ricardo Harris, Morgan Hogue, Alexia Hopkins, Camryn Hutto, Kenzie Johnson, Colby Johnson, Renne Jordan, Abbi Little, Vivien Lovell, Delaney McLaughlin, Megan Santoro, Tony Sheheen, Tyquez Thomas, Quentell Thomas, Wade “Rocky” Tosh, Anna Trapp, Caroline Webb, Shannon Whalen, Michaela “KK” Willoughby, and Zac Willoughby.

“Shakespeare writes beautifully about the people we meet day-to-day, along with magical forces that can make our day “great” or “not so great,” said Jami Steele, director of the production. “My young cast is doing a brilliant job of bringing all of the characters to life in this lively, fun production that rocks to the beat of music from the Athens, GA music scene.”
