The Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County Now Accepting Registrations for Summer Camps

CAMDEN, SC – June 24, 2013 – The Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County announced summer camps and dance classes. Classes and camps focusing on the arts (dance, visual art and drama) will be held during the month of July. Registration is now open for all camps, and the public is encouraged to register early to ensure a spot.

Summer Dance Classes

Jumping off from a tremendous year of growth, development and fun, the Fine Arts Center (FAC) and Kelley’s Fine Arts (KFA) are offering Summer Dance Classes as part of their summer offerings for the community. Also, KFA at the Fine Arts Center will continue to grow its dance program next year with the addition of a new Junior Competition Team. The instructors, Alexis Kelley and Cameron Turner, are extremely excited to start this new group for the younger dancers who are looking for a little more dedication and a lot more performing. Summer classes are highly recommended for any persons interested in the Camden Crew or Junior Camden Crew.

Summer Dance Class Schedule (ages 3 and up)

Class meets Monday through Friday for the one week July 8-12; Cost: $35 for the first class and $20 each additional class. Registration Deadline is June 28 (FAC is closed June 29-July 7.)

Pre-School Art Camp

Campers explore a variety of art media. Each two day session has its own unique theme: session #1 travels to Paris and session #2 is off to Jamaica.  The program is a blend of guided explorations and group activities designed to spur curiosity. A mid-morning snack is provided. Monday/Tuesday or Wednesday/Thursday each session is two days; 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with different activities at each session;  Pre-schoolers age 4 to 6;

Cost per session:  $45.                                                              

·         July 8 & 9 – Paris, France; Register by June 28

·         July 10 & 11 – Jamaica; Register by July 8

  

Art Camp Junior & Senior

Art Camp promotes self-esteem and creative problem solving all centered on having fun with the arts. Campers work with artists in a variety of visual art media. Campers bring their own bag lunch. A beverage is provided.

·         JuniorJuly 22-26; Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.; for campers who have completed grades 1 through 3;  Register by July 15. Cost: $120.

  

·         SeniorJuly 15-19; Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; for campers who have completed grades 3-6; Register by July 8. Cost per session:  $150.

 

Fantasy Fun Theatre Camps (brought to you by the Columbia Children’s Theatre)

The perfect introduction to theatre for early learners.  Campers explore the basics of creative expression, storytelling & pantomime.  Students will showcase their work in a story-theatre production on Friday at 3:00 p.m.. Campers bring their own bag lunch. A beverage is provided.

·         July 15 – 19; Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; For campers age 5 and up who have completed pre-K through grade 3. Register by July 8; Cost: $150.

 

Acting Up! Theatre Camp (brought to you by the Columbia Children’s Theatre)

Designed especially for those middle years when young performers are growing and changing. Campers are exposed to more advanced acting challenges and will present a showcase performance on Friday at 3:00 p.m.. Campers bring their own bag lunch. A beverage is provided.

·         July 22 – 26; Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; for campers who have completed grades 4-8; Register by July 15. Cost: $150.

 

Adult & Teen Clay Camp

Come play in the clay! You’ll have fun creating pots by hand-building and wheel throwing.  For Session #1 your guide is Anne Schultz and for Session #2 Debra Gregory. Campers will glaze their creations for firing before taking them home. Anne’s Session #3 will culminate with an exciting outdoor barrel firing. Monday through Thursday

& an additional day for glazing  (5  mornings); 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon; Adults & Teens

Cost per session: $145. Supplies & clay provided.

·         Session #2-July 29 – August 1 & August; Register by July 22 (with Debra Gregory)

·         Session #3-August 5-8 & 10; Register by July 29 (with Anne Schultz)
