The Salvation Army of the Midlands provides summer camping experience to Local Children

July 16, 2016

The Salvation Army of the Midlands provided a summer camping experience to 52 local children, ages 6-12, at Camp Walter Johnson in Denton, North Carolina this week. Several staff escorted the children on two buses on Wednesday July 6 to the camp and connected them to The Salvation Army’s camp staff there.

The children attended The Salvation Army owned and operated camp free of charge. Donations helped cover the cost of the children attending the camp and generous donors were able to send donations through The Salvation Army’s camp website and by mail.

The campers returned to Columbia on Monday July 11 after a 5-day program developed to be a positive environment for children to grow, learn and be encouraged while striving to meet spiritual, social, recreational and educational needs. Since 1974, Camp Walter Johnson has impacted the lives of over 55,000 children throughout North and South Carolina.
