Westwood Actors’ Theatre Presents The Wiz!

BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. —The Westwood Actors’ Theatre will present The Wiz March 15 and 16, 2017 at the Westwood Auditorium at 7pm. Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for students age 8 through college, senior citizens, and the military with proper ID, and $3 for students age 7 and younger and will be available at the door. This energetic musical tells the Wizard of Oz story with upbeat characters and memorable show tunes such as Ease on Down the Road and Home.

Performing as Dorothy will be Westwood senior, Kristle Rodgers and as the Scarecrow, junior, Tradarius Snowden, as the Tinman, senior, Ryan Stout, and as the Lion, junior Elizabeth Riberdy. Toto is performed by Muller Road Middle School student, Elizabeth Vasquez. Addaperle is senior, Aaliyah Broadus, Glenda is junior, Sariah Foster, and Evilene is Foreign Language Department Chair, Mrs. Monica Stevenson. In the role of the Wiz is Assistant Administrator and Fine Arts Department Chair, Mr. Daniel Humber. Appearing as Aunt Em and Uncle Henry are Mrs. Cheryl Lausi, Counseling Secretary and Mr. Kevin Toole, School Psychologist. Appearing as Queen of the Kalidah is junior, Brienna Pease, and as the Gatekeeper, sophomore Shannoi Dixon. Assistant Choreographer is junior, Kayla Racine, and guest choreographer is Ms. Erica Cooper, a Columbia College senior dance major. Sariah Foster and Brienna Pease serve as Dance Captains. Engineering students lead by teacher, Mrs. Sue Lever, will create the Wiz head with working mouth and eyes. Under the Artistic Direction of Dr. Anne Richardson, Musical Direction, Mrs. Ann Perry, and Producer, Mrs. Crystal Bailey the performance is appropriate for all ages.

Westwood High School is a recipient of the Distinguished Arts Program (DAP) Grant and became an ABC site in 2015. Westwood is the only Arts Integrated High School in Richland School District Two.
