The Charleston Gaillard Center’s mission is to operate a world-class performing arts center, to engage and serve a diverse audience throughout the Lowcountry region. It also offers vital arts education and community programs. It opened its newly renovated doors on October 18, 2015 and has already held over 70 unique rental events including the Democratic National Presidential Debate.
The project which was started about five years ago was financed 50/50 with private money and city dollars. Total construction costs were $145M.
The new space also includes over 80,000 SF of city offices.
