Town of Lexington celebrates SC Arbor Day with tree planting at Virginia Hylton Park

The Town of Lexington will celebrate South Carolina Arbor Day on Friday, December 11, 2015 at 9am with the planting of a Red Oak at Virginia Hylton Park (111 Maiden Lane).

South Carolina Arbor Day has been held annually since 1934 and helps mark the beginning of planting season in the Palmetto State.

Additionally, our Parks Department received a 2015 Midlands Area Treasured Trees award on Friday, December 4 for Virginia Hylton Park – Loblolly. The award is presented by the Columbia Tree and Appearance Commission, Columbia Garden Club, City of Columbia and The State Newspaper. (please see attached photo)
