Tri-County Cradle to Career Collaborative adds to board of directors and staff

SC Boeing VP to join movement ensuring all Lowcountry students graduate ready for college or career 

Tri-County Cradle to Career Collaborative (TCCC), an organization dedicated to improving educational outcomes for all children in Berkley, Charleston and Dorchester counties, has announced two new additions – board member Joan Robinson-Berry and staff member Troy Strother.

Joan Robinson-Berry was appointed Vice President and General Manager of Boeing South Carolina in June 2016. Robinson-Berry has served in a variety of leadership positions during her 30-year tenure with Boeing, and was most recently the vice president of the Shared Services Group Supplier Management organization in Washington state. She has received extensive recognition for her work in science, technology, engineering and mathematics from global organizations, including the National Society of Black Engineers and various members of Congress. She was recognized in 2016 as one of Women’s Enterprise USA’s Top 100 Leaders in Supplier Diversity, and received the Women of Color Professional Achievement Award in 2015. Robinson-Berry was elected to an at-large seat for the TCCC Board of Directors in October 2016.

During a time when our community is demanding a highly-educated workforce in these areas, it’s the combined efforts of individuals like Joan that will allow Tri-County Cradle to Career to continue addressing these all too important educational challenges.”

Troy Strother joins TCCC part-time as the Director of Facilitation. He will be working to increase the number of trained facilitators who can support TCCC’s work. Strother began his 20-year career with the New York City Housing Authority. He has also served as the Associate Executive Director of Dallas Youth Services and Executive Director of Youth Services, an organization he helped merge with the Boys & Girls Club locally.

Strother is an active member of the community, and serves on several committees in Charleston including: The Mayor’s Commission for Children Youth and Families; the Drop-out Prevention Task Force; the Advisory Council for the Charleston County School Health Committee; the Low Country’s Promise; and Board of Trusties for the Charleston County Library.

“As a collective impact organization, it is our mission to facilitate greater collaboration among partners and those committed to improving educational outcomes within our community,” said TCCC CEO John Read. “With Troy’s help, we can continue to bring organizations together to execute meaningful projects that support our ultimate goal of helping every child succeed. Troy has worked as a volunteer with our High School Graduation Network for the last year, and we’re looking forward to his continued support of Tri-County Cradle to Career and all of its work.”
