The Women’s Shelter will receive $10,000 for their Emphasis on Exit Strategies program. Midlands Housing Authority (Transitions) will receive $9,000 for their Know Better Money program. Transitions will use their WIP investment to improve the financial stability of female and youth clients (aged 18-24) by providing opportunity, resources, and case management to facilitate financial planning education in order to help clients increase their income and obtain permanent housing.

Junior Achievement of Greater South Carolina will receive $7,500 for their kindergarten through first grade programs in Fairfield County. Junior Achievement of Greater South Carolina will use their WIP investment to expand financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship programs for these students.

My Amigos Bilingual Education Center will receive $4,000 for their Fighting for Women and Children’s Financial Stability through Affordable Preprimary Education program. My Amigos Bilingual Education Center will use their WIP investment to further the immediate and future financial stability of low-income female guardians and to improve the likelihood of low-income children’s readiness for the future.

In addition to the CCCF grants, WIP awarded grants totaling $125,000 through United Way of the Midlands earlier this year to Family Shelter and The Cooperative Ministry. These programs received $70,000 and $55,000, respectively.

Since its inception in 2003, WIP has issued 100 grants totaling more than $1.3 million. Grants are awarded through a competitive process and programs are monitored for success.
