Upstate SC Alliance Announces 2011-2012 Executive Committee Leadership

March 14, 2011

UPSTATE, SC – March 14, 2011 – The Upstate SC Alliance, the regional economic development group charged with marketing the ten counties of the Upstate to generate job creation and stimulate capital investment, is proud to welcome a new executive committee that will continue to provide leadership for the region in the coming year.

The executive committee is comprised of public and private sector individuals that will provide guidance for the regional organization as it seeks to provide the business case to prospective businesses on why the Upstate is a perfect location for new investment or expansion projects.

The executive committee was chosen by the Alliance’s board of directors and voted into office at the Upstate SC Alliance’s Annual meeting that took place recently on March 9th at the BMW Zentrum.

The members of Upstate SC Alliance’s executive committee include:

title=Ingo Angermeier (pictured left), who will be the executive committee’s chair, is the president and chief executive officer of Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System.

  • Nancy Spencer, who will serve as the vice chair of the committee, is the South Carolina regional president of Delta Dental.
  • Jim Evers, who will serve as the committee’s treasurer; he is the regional director for AT&T.
  • Dr. Ronnie Booth, president of Tri-County Technical College, will serve as secretary for the committee.
  • Francis Crowder, who will serve as an at-large committee member, is a member of Anderson County Council and chair of the Finance Committee for the council.
  • Neil Smith, who will serve as an at-large committee member, is vice chair of Pickens County Council.
  • Butch Kirven, who will be an at-large committee member, is chair of Greenville County Council.
  • John Miller, president of AnMed Health, will serve as an at-large committee member for the Alliance.
  • Immediate past chairman of the committee is George Acker, vice president for Government and Community Relations in South Carolina for Duke Energy Carolinas.

“I appreciate the opportunity to serve on the Upstate SC Alliance Executive Committee,” said Anderson County Council member Francis Crowder.  “Having been a small business owner, I am a strong believer in close alliances with regional and local marketing groups. We live in a world that requires Anderson County to be marketed by many organizations in order to attract the attention of industries looking to locate their businesses and bring jobs. The Upstate SC Alliance provides Anderson County and the other 14 public sector members with at least a 3-for-1 leverage on private versus government funding. As a representative on the Alliance Executive Committee, I will work to keep Anderson County and the public sector on the front burner in marketing for jobs.”

The members of our executive committee support the Upstate SC Alliance’s goal of marketing the Upstate SC region to successfully compete for jobs and global business investment,” said Hal Johnson, Upstate SC Alliance president and chief executive officer.  “We are pleased to have these leaders from the public and private sector willing to go to work to bring about a brighter future for the ten counties in Upstate South Carolina.”
