USC Upstate Police Department to Offer Self-Defense Class

SPARTANBURG, SC – The University of South Carolina Upstate Police Department is offering a self-defense class. This course, Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.), offers no-nonsense, practical techniques for women and men of all ages and abilities. The course is designed to give the participants realistic and dynamic hands-on training.

The course is taught by certified R.A.D. instructors from the USC Upstate Police Department. Each class consists of three evening of intensive training to include awareness, prevention, risk reduction and risk avoidance and hands-on defensive training.

Classes will be held October 13-15 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. in the University Readiness Center Great Room.

The class is free to students. Faculty, staff and community members may participate for a $25 fee. Slots are limited.
