Walk with a ranger at your local city park

Grab your family and friends and see how much fun learning can be! The City of Columbia Parks & Recreation Department is hosting free ranger-guided walks during the month of November.

Guests will learn about the animals that call Riverfront Park home, how to identify a variety of trees growing in the City and more!

 

Schedule of Walks

 

  • Fall Color on the Greenway| Saturday, November 12 from 2-3 p.m.

Join a Ranger-led walk to explore the variety of trees in our city and parks. We’ll share an identification key that you can take home to identify the trees in your yard, neighborhood or local park. Participants should meet at the Riverfront Park (South) parking lot, 312 Laurel Street.

 

  • Knowing the Night | Tuesday, November 15 from 6-7 p.m.

Stretch your legs on a Ranger-led walk at Riverfront Park beside the Columbia Canal. Now that the days are shorter, we want you to know that our park is still a great place for an evening stroll. Participants should meet at the Riverfront Park (North) parking lot, 4122 River Drive.

 

  • South East Park Fall Color |Wednesday, November 16 from 2-3 p.m.

Join a Ranger-led walk to explore the variety of trees in our city and parks. We’ll learn to use an identification key that you can take home to identify the trees in your yard, neighborhood or local park. Participants should meet at the South East Park parking lot, 951 Hazelwood Road.

 

  • Knowing the Night | Tuesday, November 22 from 6-7 p.m.

Stretch your legs on a Ranger-led walk at Riverfront Park beside the Columbia Canal. Now that the days are shorter, we want you to know that our park is still a great place for an evening stroll. Participants should meet at the Riverfront Park (North) parking lot, 4122 River Drive.

 

  • Thanksgiving Wildlife Walk-It-Off | Saturday, November 26 from 2-3:30 p.m.

Come waddle with us on a Ranger-guided nature walk and work off that Thanksgiving feast.Participants should meet at the Riverfront Park (South) parking lot, 312 Laurel Street.

Guests are encouraged to bring binoculars and field guides as well as any essentials like water, sunscreen, bug repellent, hats and sturdy walking footwear.
