Walter to join English Faculty at BJU

Kelly Walter will serve as an English instructor in the Division of English Language and Literature in the College of Arts and Sciences at Bob Jones University this fall.
“Kelly proved to be an excellent teacher when she was a graduate teaching assistant in the freshman English program, so I’m especially glad to have her now as a full-time English faculty member,” says Dr. Renae Wentworth, dean of the College of Arts and Science at BJU. “Her students will benefit greatly from both her love for teaching and her dedication to their success.”
Walter earned a BS in English Education (2012) with an emphasis in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) and an MA in English (2014) from BJU.
Walter previously served as secondary author, project editor and proofreader at BJU Press. She also served as a facilitator for an online English Composition and Rhetoric course, interacting with students, grading, reporting grades, and assisting students with technical difficulties.
At BJU, Walter previously served as an instructor in BJU’s English Department, where she taught English Composition and Rhetoric. She also served as a graduate faculty assistant in the English department while earning her master’s degree.
Walter completed her student teaching experience at Riverside High School, where she taught high-school English, and her practicum experience in TESL at Wade Hampton High School. Her certifications include a Professional Certificate in Online Education from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, the Initial Teacher’s Certification for Middle-Level English in South Carolina, the Initial Certification for Secondary English in South Carolina, and the Advanced Certification for Teaching English as a Second Language.
“I’m thrilled to be joining the faculty of Bob Jones University, and more particularly, the Division of English Language and Literature,” says Walter. “The opportunity to interact with and train students seeking to answer God’s call on their lives is a privilege I am very thankful for.
