Whole Wheat Apple Cinnamon Waffles

Healthy Hands Cooking
1 cup whole-wheat flour
2 Tsp. baking powder
1/2 Tsp. ground cinnamon
1/4 Tsp. salt
1 egg, lightly beaten
1 cup nonfat milk or alternative milk (such as almond milk)
1 Tbsp. honey
1/2 Tsp. olive oil
1/2 medium apple, peeled, cored, and chopped or shredded
Directions:
- Combine first four ingredients in a large bowl.
- Combine next four ingredients in a separate bowl.
- Stir wet ingredients into dry ingredients just until moistened.
- Stir in chopped apple.
- Pour batter into a heated nonstick waffle iron (may be sprayed with nonstick spray).
- Cook until both sides are browned and waffle holds its shape.
- Top with chopped or sliced apple if desired.
- May be dusted with powdered sugar and maple syrup.
