Woodruff native to perform free at Chapman Sunday

GREENVILLE, SC – Woodruff native Travis Smith will perform live and in concert Sunday, Jan. 31, 2-4 p.m. at Chapman Cultural Center as part of the venue’s weekly Sundays Unplugged program, which features free music and art and history exhibits.

Smith’s music style is rhythm and blues that has been greatly influenced by country and gospel music. In addition to being a singer and songwriter, he also plays the guitar, piano, drums, and brass instruments. In recent years, he has performed on local television and at many local festivals, such as Spring Fling, Fall for Greenville, Bele Chere, and The Cherry Blossom Festival in Macon, GA. He was first attracted to music at about 3 years old, and by 6 years old, he was playing the piano and singing in his church. In high school, he was an award-winning drum major. For several years, Chapman Cultural Center has hosted its weekly Sundays Unplugged program to give local patrons a stress-free environment in which to enjoy local art and culture. The facility is open 1-5 p.m., and the open exhibits are Spartanburg Art Museum, Artists’ Guild of Spartanburg Gallery, Student Gallery, and Spartanburg Regional History Museum.
