YouthBASE to Host Storybook ReadAlong Event

May 11, 2015

GREENVILLE, SC – YouthBASE will host a Storybook ReadAlong event on Saturday, May 16th from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at The Palmetto Bank located on 306 E. North Street in downtown Greenville.

ReadAlong is a family-friendly event geared to YouthBASE’s primary audience – children ages five to seven. There will be life-sized characters from the “beginning to read” books, such as Clifford, Curious George, Junie B. Jones, Biscuit and Amelia Bedelia. A character will read to the children for a fun story time experience. To create memories, there will be craft tables for children to make and take home either a bookmark or a book cover. There will also be prizes, breakfast, milk and cookies. The cost to attend is $15 per person.

“We hope that ReadAlong will become an annual fundraising event. The event is open to the public and will offer an opportunity for children of all ages, races, ethnicities and socio-economic backgrounds to be included at the same event – a real testament to diversity and inclusion,” said Linda Tassie, executive director of YouthBASE.
